Meet the Wrights—Dylan and Kaylyn. Our story began in Orange County, CA, in 2019, just two weeks after Kaylyn took a leap of faith, moving from Utah for a new job. Fate introduced us at a church event, where we exchanged smiles and shot hoops together. Our first ‘non-date’ was initiated by Kaylyn, but destiny had other plans—when I paid for our fish burritos at Bear Flag in Corona Del Mar, it became something more. From that moment, we were inseparable, spending day after day together, knowing we had stumbled upon something extraordinary.
As our connection grew, we took things to the next level with a memorable weekend at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach alongside good friends. It was a weekend filled with laughter, unforgettable views, and Kaylyn’s first glimpse into my deep passion for golf—a fair warning of the adventures (and tee times) that lay ahead.
On a snowy December morning, the day after Christmas in 2019, I asked Kaylyn to marry me—and she said yes. Days later, we embarked on our first big adventure together: exploring the ancient wonders of Israel and Jordan. From historic streets to windswept dunes, it was a journey we’ll never forget. We were married on April 11, 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, with just eight family members gathered to stay within restrictions. The intimate ceremony took place in a small Airbnb, filled with love and support, despite the challenges of the time. Two years later, on our anniversary weekend, April 9, 2022, we celebrated again with a beautiful Temple ceremony, marking the next chapter of our journey together.
A work day in a remote life…
In our new Hillsboro home, we both work in our own home offices. I work at a project management software company called Project Insight as the manager of Customer Success and Implementations. Kaylyn operates her own interior design business, Dwell Wright Interiors with residential clients around the country. Our remote schedule allows us to work in adjacent rooms, enjoy lunch together downstairs, and work anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection!
